HISTORY OF COMMITTED
Committed Comics started as an idea way back in 1996. Alejandro Cruz and Thomas Doherty decided to take their love for the comic book industry one step beyond the average fan. They talked about starting a comic book company where quality wasn't passed over for quantity and where creators were given the opportunity to develop their creations.
Fast forward to 2000, Where Alejandro and Thomas take the idea and put it into practice. Committed Comics was born the Spring of 2000. Utilizing Thomas' knowledge of the comic book industry and Alejandro's creative ability they put the call out to independent creators across the country. They put the call out and the creative community responded.
The inaugural line up of creators of Committed Comics had creator from all over the United States. With offices on both the East and West coast it enabled Committed Comics to maximize their recruiting talent. The company was off to a strong start and exhibited at the 2000 San Diego Comic Convention.
At the San Diego Comic Con we discovered more and more talent. We signed new talent every year we exhibited at the convention.
Unfortunately we learned that majority of the people who want to be comic book professionals are missing one key element. The ability to work with deadlines and schedules.
The creators we were working with had the desire to be in the business but not quite the drive needed to succeed. So we lost a lot of creators a long the way...and gained a bunch more. Finally we found the right mixture of independence and creativity! We worked with the creators we had signed and made a deal with the top distributor in the country.

Then in 2003 Committed Comic release their hit series "Neo Dawn" to rave reviews. The first issue was one of Diamond Distributions Top 300 selling comics for March 2003. Only a couple issues short of the big boys. Shortly after releasing the hit series Neo Dawn, Committed Comics released another hit with Java!
Late 2003 Committed Comics did an industry first by attending the most comic book conventions across the US by a small press company. That year Committed Comics attended 14 different conventions across the United States.
Committed Comics then did another first by doing a full day of portfolio reviews at the San Diego Comic Convention in 2005. After 5 years of producing extremely innovating comics and doing industry firsts, Committed Comics took a break to regroup and restructure.
In 2008 the company finished it's restructure and welcomed a variety of very talented people into the inner working of the company. Thomas and Alejandro were joined by Boe DuRansier as the company's managing editor and C Wilson Trull as art supervisor. The dynamic duo had now become a fantastic four and ready to move ahead full steam.
In the summer of 2008, Editor in Chief Thomas Doherty did anothing amazing feat by doing a second all day portfolio review session at the San Diego Comic Con. New talent was found at the 2008 show and Committed Comics' new direction started to take shape.
It's 2009 and armed with a strong editor staff and a host of extremely talented creators, Committed Comics is ready to do what it was created to do...make some of the best comics in the industry and rightfully take it's place amoung the great comic book companies in history.
